Schwarz, 78, of Orr, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 8, 2005, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Orr. Rev. H. Arthur Dale will be the officiant. Interment will be in the Prairie Hill Cemetery of Fulda, Minn. Military rites will be accorded by the combined honor guards of the Orr aMerican Legion Post #480, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1757 of Cook. He was born on April 7, 1927, at Fulda, Minnesota, the son of Carl and Anna (Gehl) Schwarz. He grew up in Fulda, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Lola F. Knorr in Fulda on December 25, 1949. The couple lived in Fulda for 5 years after their marriage, then in Alborn for 4 1/2 years, and moved to Orr in 1957, where they have since resided. Orville was a Department of Natural Resources Forester for 38 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Orr, and a 47 year member of its choir. He belonged to the Orr American Legion Post #480, and the Orr Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years, and had served on the Board of Directors of the Vermilion Fairways Gold Course in Cook. He was an avid deer hunter, golfer, and card player - especially pinochle. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lola; 1 son, Jim (Pauline) of Superior, Wis., two daughters, Terri (Rick) Popovich of Duluth, and Julie (Wayne) Morgan of Orr; two brothers, Ivan of Omaha, Neb., and Gerald of Fulda, MN.; six grandchildren: Travis and Nicholas Morgan, Cody and Reanna Popovich, and Addison and McKenzie Schwarz, along with nieces, nephews, and many caring friends.
