Schweigert, age 84, a resident of Parkers Prairie, died on Monday, October 25, 2004 at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria. Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 28, 2004 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Rev. Kirk Lee officiating. Music was provided by organist, Gloria Hollatz and vocalist, Dedra Zwieg. Burial at Almora Cemetery. Walter Robert Schweigert was born on October 21, 1920 in Fulda, Minnesota to Albert and Libby (Nelson) Schweigert. He grew up in Fulda, attending country school. Following his education, he farmed with his brother, Clifford. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, in England. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Graceville, Minnesota to farm. He was united in marriage to Lillian Thies on February 3, 1956 in Graceville. In 1958, they moved to rural Parkers Prairie to farm. In 1977, they moved to another farm where he farmed and dairy farmed, until the time of his death. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening and loved animals, especially livestock. He is survived by his wife, Lillian; a brother, Edward (and Rose Mary) Schweigert of Fulda; a sister, Ella (and Robert) Namanney of Worthington; two sisters in law, Joyce Schweigert and Beverly Schweigert both of Fulda and a brother in law, Rex Simmons of Fulda and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence Schweigert, Clifford Schweigert and Louis Schweigert and a sister, Irene Simmons. Pallbearers will be Robert Oletzke, Boyd Thompson, Lowell Dittberner, George Palmer, Tim Iverson and Clare Schweigert. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association
