Skouge - 2004 Beuman Skouge was born on April 21, 1930, at the Slayton Home Hospital, Slayton, Minnesota to George and Ruth Skrivseth Skouge. Beuman graduated from Slayton High School in 1949. In 1950, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his discharge in 1954, he returned to the Slayton. On April 15, 1956, he and Maxine Samp were married at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton. Following their marriage Beuman worked at Hegstad Equipment then moved to Alexandria, Minnesota and worked at the Balanca Air Craft Plant. They returned to Slayton and Beuman worked at Lambert Lumber. He did carpentry work with Lindberg Construction, Joe Schreier Construction and then with Don Langland Construction until his retirement in 1995. Beuman passed away at the Murray County Hospital on September 30, 2004, at the age of 74. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton where he had held many offices. Beuman also was a lifetime member of the Slayton VFW. Beuman enjoyed fishing, hunting with his grandson, woodworking, and he kept busy doing odd jobs and working in his shop. He loved square dancing, camping and traveling. Survivors include his wife Maxine Skouge, Slayton; four children and their spouses: Jeffrey and Deb Skouge, Cokato, MN; Michael and Rebecca Skouge, Bloomington, MN; Janeen and Brian Lucker, Norwood-Young America, MN; and Richard and Nicole Skouge, Garvin, MN; seven grandchildren: Jeremy Skouge, Becky Skouge, Travis Skouge, Eric Lucker, Brad Lucker, Jacob Skouge and Genna Skouge; two great-grandsons: Jordan and Joshua Skouge; one brother Ronald Skouge and his wife Pat, Waco, TX; one brother-in-law Harold Pray, Santa Maria, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Twyla Pray. Memorial services were held at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Monday, October 6, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Gloria Anderson officiating. The organist is Twyla Hungerford. Honorary pallbearers are Curt Schmidt, Garry Schmidt, Gary Eich, Warren Kerr, Don Olson, Don Langland, Don Mitchell and Larry Aanenson. Interment at Slayton Cemetery, Slayton, MN. Military honors furnished by the Slayton VFW and American Legion Post.
