O.A. and Anna Meyer Soeldner, was born on July 24, 1918 near Fairmont, MN. As a child she moved with her family, as her father served in the ministry in various Lutheran Parishes. Dorothy graduated from the Fulda High School in 1936. After her schooling she worked at the Nelson Drug Store until 1942. She then worked as the Murray County Deputy Auditor until 1967. Dorothy was united in marriage to Bernard Smith on May 25, 1967 in Fulda, MN. After their marriage they lived and farmed in rural Fulda until their retirement in 1978 when they built a new home in Fulda. Dorothy entered the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in August of 2004 and passed away there on January 15, 2005 at the age of 86. She was a member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed painting pictures, playing cards, especially Bridge, collecting souvenir spoons and traveling throughout the U.S. with Bernard. Survivors include her husband Bernard, Fulda; sister Margaret Tessman of Prescott, AZ; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Rev. Arnold Soeldner and Norman Soeldner and an infant sister, Florence. Funeral services were held at St. Paul?s Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 with the Rev. Dwayne Schroeder officiating. The organist was Irene Wahl. The soloist was A.W. Koopman. The pallbearers were Mike Vorthems, David Vorthems, Curt Soeldner, Ron Soeldner, Jeff Soeldner and Rick Tessman.
