FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: January 2006 ========================================================================= 1916 - Yvonne Mae Solter - 2005 Yvonne Solter was born on December 2, 1916, on a farm north of Slayton, Minnesota to George and Virginia Brouillet Galles. She grew up on the family farm and attended Poverty Hill Country School. She graduated from Slayton High School in 1936. On July 2, 1938, she and Charles (Ray) Solter were married at Flandreau, South Dakota. Following their marriage they farmed near Slayton until 1950. They lived in Hadley until 1957 when they moved to Slayton. Ray passed away on September 25, 1983. Yvonne continued living in Slayton and had worked as a clerk the Ben Franklin Store in Worthington and then as a child caregiver at WonderWorld Pre-School for several years. Due to failing health, she moved to the Lindenwood Apartments in March 2004. In December 2005 she moved to Our House Hospice House and passed away there on December 23, 2005, at the age of 89 years. She was a lifetime member of St. Ann's Church in Slayton and was active in the WCCW and had belonged to Bible study in her younger years. She belonged to the Band Mothers in the 1950's and to the Murray County Extension Club. Yvonne enjoyed corresponding with many people, socializing, and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include two daughters, a son and their spouses: Elayne and Lloyd Finke, Slayton, MN; George and Patsy Solter, Croften, MD; and Monica Morgan, Jordan, MN; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister Arlene and her husband Red McCarthy, Adrian, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Solter; grandson Jason Solter; three great-grandchildren: Travis and Heath Hanson and Nathan Streff; brothers: Dorance and Vernon Galles and sons-in law, Henry Tritz and Robert Morgan. Funeral services were held at St. Ann's Church in Slayton, MN on Tuesday, December 27, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Patrick Arens officiating. The organist was Sharon Lais. The singers were Joanne Halbur and Mary Hill. The pallbearers were all grandsons: Rick Finke, Gary Finke, Michael Tritz Frederick Morgan, Jarrod Morgan, Derrick Morgan.
