FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: October 2005 ========================================================================= 1916 - John Kenneth Strom - 2005 John Kenneth Strom was born to Bert and Emma (Gnadt) Strom on March 17, 1916, in Lake Wilson, Minnesota where he was raised and attended school. He was baptized and confirmed on December 25, 1932, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Wilson. Upon completion of his education, he helped on the family farm. On August 31, 1946, he was united in marriage to Lucille Nihart in Luverne, Minnesota until 1949, when they moved to St. Clair, Minnesota. In 1950, they moved to Woodstock, Minnesota where he farmed. He retired in 1981. After his retirement, they remained on the farm. On Wednesday, October 5, 2005, he died at his home at the age of 89. John had been a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woodstock where he served as an elder. After St. John’s closed, he became a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Holland. He enjoyed taking care of his pets and farm animals. He also enjoyed working around his farm. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Lucille Strom, Woodstock, Minnesota; two sons: Michael Strom, Mesa, Arizona and Don Strom, Brookings, SD; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Strom, Balaton, MN; and two sisters: Mildred Coleman, Pomona, CA and Viola Beiersdorf, Eden Prairie, MN. He was preceded in death by his son Kenneth; his parents; and two brothers: Floyd and Wilbur Strom. Funeral services were held at Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, MN. Interment in the Hillside Cemetery, Lake Wilson, MN.
