Roger Sweetman passed away peacefully at home in Canby, Minnesota on the 

morning of Monday, October 31, 2005, at the age of 46. He was born on July 

1, 1959 to John and Kathleen Malone Sweetman in Slayton, Minnesota. He 

attended public school in Garvin and Rolling Acres in Chaska, Minnesota. 

He moved to Canby in 1980. Roger loved his family, both at home and his 

REM family in Canby. His hugs and handshakes at holidays and parties will 

be missed. He loved to swim, boat, do latch hook and jigsaw puzzles, 

listen to music and celebrate Christmas. 



Survivors include his mother Kathleen Sweetman, rural Tracy, MN; two 

sisters, six brothers and their spouses: Dr. Kathleen Sweetman and  

James Waight, Maple Plain, MN; Bill and Pam Sweetman, Rogers, MN; Ed 

and Mary Sweetman, Tracy, MN; Fran and Vic Larson, St. Cloud, MN; Pat 

Sweetman,Tracy, MN; Phil and Shelley Sweetman, Currie, MN; Jim and Mary 

Sweetman, Tracy, MN; John and Lisa Sweetman, Slayton, MN; and many nieces 

and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father John Sweetman. 



Funeral services were held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie, 

MN on Thursday, November 3, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Bob Horihan 

officiating. The organist was Patty LeClaire. The song leader is Barb 

Schreier. Pallbearers were his brothers. Interment is in Calvary Cemetery 

in Currie, MN.
