FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: October2004 ========================================================================= In Memory of Dorothy Teig 1915-DOROTHY TEIG-2004 Dorothy Lucille Teig was born on December 2, 1915 on a farm near Wall Lake, Iowa to Louis and Marie Claussen Zimmer. In 1919 the family moved to a farm near Avoca, MN. Dorothy attended school in Fulda, MN. In 1925 the family moved to a farm near Lime Creek, MN. Before her marriage Dorothy worked as a waitress. On May 19, 1939 she and Ernest Teig were married at Sioux Falls, SD. Following their marriage, Dorothy lived in Slayton while Ernie served during WW II. Dorothy worked in different clothing stores in Slayton. Ernie and his brother ran the Gambles Store in Slayton and Dorothy worked as a clerk. In 1972 they sold the Gambles Store. Dorothy then worked as a waitress at the Club Royal in Slayton. They moved to Westside Apartments in 1990. Ernie passed away on November 3, 1996. Dorothy continued living at Westside Apartments. Dorothy passed away on August 30, 2004 at the Murray County Hospital in Slayton at the age of 88 years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and member of WELCA. She also was a member of the Slayton Legion Auxiliary. Dorothy?s favorite pastimes included cooking, baking, playing cards, doing crafts and spending time with her family. Dorothy and Ernie spent many winters in Arizona. Survivors include five children and their spouses; Jerry Teig of Otter Tail, MN, Ron and Paula Teig of Riverside, CA, Barbara Barmore of Tempe, AZ, Betty and Ron Biegler of Lake Wilson, MN and Rick Teig of Slayton; nine grandchildren, Scott Teig, Mary McMillan, Jeff, and Jason Teig, Scott, Ryan, and Brooke Barmore, Deb DeGreeff and Ann Biegler, and 10 great-grandchildren, three sisters, Evie LeClaire of Savage, MN, Helen Stutz of Billings, MT, and Donna Nocita of Sioux City, IA, and one brother, Bob Zimmer of Tucson, AZ. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernie, grandson, Mike Biegler, great-grandson, Cody Teig, daughter-in-law, Dottie Teig, and two brothers, Willard and Wesley Zimmer. Funeral services were held at Christ Lutheran Church Slayton, MN on Friday September 3, 2004 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Duane Miller officiating. The organist was Twyla Hungerford. The pallbearers were all of her grandchildren. Interment at Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN.
