UTZ Leon A. Utz, 84, of Murphy, North Carolina, died Saturday, October 30, 2004 in a Murphy care facility. A native of Fulda, MN, but he had lived most of his life in Croydon, PA, and Cape Coral, FL, before moving to Murphy in May 2004. He was the son of the late George and Katherine Koopman Utz. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre. He retired after 40 years as a plumber and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 630 in West Palm Beach, FL. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Cape Coral, FL. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Agnes Krasowski Utz; three daughters, Barbara Utz of Carey, NC, Gloria Effing of Murphy, and Monica Kutan of Edwardsville, IL; a son, Larry Utz of Murphy; and nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Memorial services were held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2nd, in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, with Rev. George Simmons officiating.
