Death came unexpectedly. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church of Iona on Jan. 3, 1972 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Moranville in charge. Burial was in Prairie Hill Cemetery, Fulda, Minn. Mrs. John Stahl, organist, and Mrs. Tena Kruger and Mrs. Donald Nobel, duet, furnished special music. Pallbearers were Joseph Pivonka, Irvin Coyer, Lester Coyer, George Hindt, Frank Spartz, and Gary Hindt. Arrangements were by Hustad Funeral Home, Slayton. George Anton Virt was born Feb. 22, 1898 at Fulda to Joseph and Anna Slaboch Virt. He grew up on a farm near Fulda and attended rural school. His family moved to Worthington, and in 1941 he moved to Ocheyedan, Iowa where he lived with his sister, Mrs. Claus Kruger. In 1969 he moved to the Slayton Rest Home and since this past spring he has lived at the Slayton Manor. He is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Josephine Hindt of Slayton, Mrs. Anna Kruger of Ocheyedan, Iowa, and Mrs. Teresa Coyer of Brooten, Minn. and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
