FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: June 2007 ========================================================================= Murray County Hugo Van Eck was born November 9, 1932 to Bastiaan and Annie (Van't Hof) Van Eck on a farm northwest of Lake Wilson, MN in Cameron Township, Murray County. He was baptized and confessed his faith at the Chandler Reformed Church, Chandler, MN. He attended country school in Ellsborough Township and worked as a farm hand for several area farmers. On May 20, 1953 Hugo was drafted into the US Army. He served overseas in Korea following the Korean War and returned to the US receiving his Honorable Discharge on April 28, 1955. He returned to the home farm and continued farming with his family. On October 17, 1957 Hugo married Beulah Schelhaas in Edgerton, MN. They made their home on a farm in Ellsborough Township near Ruthton, MN. On May 12, 1983 Hugo's wife died and he and his children remained on the farm until October of 1983 when they moved to a farm near Woodstock, MN. On Friday, June 1, 2007 Hugo died at the McKennan Hospital Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 74. Hugo is survived by five sons, Glen (Wanda) Van Eck of Woodstock, MN, Dennis Van Eck of Duluth, MN, Allen (Amy) Van Eck of Baltic, SD, Mark (Barb) Van Eck of Hendricks, MN and David (Jenny) Van Eck of Eagle Lake, MN; two daughters, Marilyn (Ivan) Van Peursem of Chandler, MN, and Cindy (Kenny) Nielsen of Lake Benton, MN; twenty grandchildren; three brothers, John (Gardena) Van Eck of Ruthton, MN, Corky (Mary) Van Eck of Chandler, MN, and Bud (Janice) Van Eck of Luverne, MN; three sisters; Nellie Ellgen of Lake Wilson, MN, Jennie (Bob) Van Roekel of Sioux Falls, SD and Annie (Richard) Severeid of LaFayette, CO; and mother-in-law Carrie Schelhaas of Edgerton, MN. His parents, wife, Beulah, one infant brother, Tony, and three sisters, Cornielia Bodewitz, Margaret Eisfeld and Annetta Eisfeld preceded him in death. ========================================================================= Copyright Judy Clarke 2007.
