Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Jackie Burg Feldman Obituary from St. Peter Tribune dated January 8, 1913 "Death of Alderman Albert BURG" Friends in this city were sorry to hear last Friday morning of the death of Alderman Burg at Cobb hospital St. Paul. His death was not entirely unexpected and his whole family was at his bedside when the end came. Mr. Burg was born in Germany in the province of Luxemburg in the year 1844. At the age of thirteen he came with his parents to this country settling in the township of Granby, this county. He remained with his parents on the farm until he grew to manhood. He obtained a position in the flour mill and followed this occupation for a number of years, later embarking in farming and in the business of buying stock. Mr. Burg has long been a man of influence in our municipal affairs and has been a member of our city council for the past nine years, during which time he has labored unceasingly for the welfare of our city. For the past few years he has been in failing health and several weeks ago upon the advice of physicians he entered Cobb hospital for treatment and the end came at 2:35 last Friday morning. The city officials attended the funeral of their late colleague in a body and the doors of our business houses were closed during the hour of the funeral. The deceased was a quiet unassuming man, and a good neighbor. He was devoted to his family, and was a great favorite among his grandchildren, of whom he was extremely fond. His departure from the family circle will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife and nine children: Mrs. O. A. Thro, of Mankato; Mrs. Jas. Craychee, of Fairmont; Mrs. W. A. Burke, of St. Paul; Mrs. Maud Seales, Mrs. Martin Klein; Mrs. J. G. Alexander, Ella, Eva, and son Clemence Albert. The funeral was held from the German Catholic church in this city Monday morning, Rev. J. M. Main officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in Calvary cemetery. The pallbearers were M. A. Andersen, Ed. McGrath, Chas. Rost, (unreadable) Stark, Geo. T. Olsen, Chas. (unreadable), Jos. Winthelaer and (unreadable)."
