Aug 23, 1913 "Residents of Nicollet and members of the family were shocked on Wednesday to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. John Burg, which occurred at four o'clock that afternoon. Death was due to acute uraemia. She was taken ill shortly after midday and passed away four hours later. Mrs. Burg, whose maiden name was Kate Keltgen, was 59 years of age. She was born in Dubuque, Iowa, July 25, 1854, and was brought to Nicollet county by her parents when a young girl. They settled in Belgrade township and she was married there in 1869 to John Burg. Later they moved to Nicollet village where they resided for many years. The deceased is survived by her husband, five sons and five daughters, namely: M. W. Burg, A. H. Burg, Wm. Burg, Joseph Burg and Henry Burg all of Nicollet; Mrs. F. C. Otto of Macomb, Ill., Mrs. D. A. Murphy, Mrs. Geo. Gigsby and Mrs. Richard Gutteron of San Diego, Cal. and Miss Margaret Burg at home. She also leaves two brothers and two sisters, as follows: Battes Keltgen, Wm. Keltgen and Mrs. Frank Poseley of Bird Island, and Mrs. M. Kennedy of Minneapolis. Deceased was a kind christian woman and was held in high regard by a wide circle of friends who join in extending sympathy to the bereaved family and other relatives. They funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock from the house with services at the Middle Lake Catholic church, Rev. W. J. Skluzacek officiating. The remains will be interred in the church cemetery nearby."
