PETER HERALD, FRIDAY, MARCH 5, 1915, FRONT PAGE FRANK DONNELLY PASSES AWAY Just before noon last Monday, Frank Donnally, an old and well known resident of St. Peter, died at his home on Front street. Mr. Donnelly had been in failing health for the last two years, having been a sufferer with nephritis. Five days before his death he was compelled to take to his bed. Mr. Donnelly, who was 82 years of age, was born in Londonderry, Ireland, and came to this country when twenty years of age. After coming to America he made his home in Wisconsin until the opening of the Civil war, when he went to Alabama, where he remained until its close. Later he came to Minnesota and settled in Waseca county, but for the last forty years he had made his home in St. Peter. When he first came here he was engaged in railroad work, and then was employed by A.J. Lamberton. For the last twenty years, however, he had been employed as coachman by F.A. Danahower. Mr. Donnelly was an upright man, and was universally respected. In 1867 he was married in Waseca county to Miss Jennie Murphy, who remains to mourn the death of her husband. Of their nine children, six are still living. They are: Mrs. P.L. McCabe, Cologne, S.D.; Frank Donnelly, St. Paul; Mrs. J.W. Farrell, Madison Lake; John Donnelly, Salmon City, Idaho; Peter Donnelly, Omaha, Neb., and Miss Helen Donnelly, Omaha, Neb., and Miss Helen Donnelly, Madison Lakel Funeral services were held from St. Peter's Catholic church at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, and the interment was in Calvary cemetery. ========================================================================= Copyright Linda Miller 2006.
