She had been in poor health for the past four months. The cause of death was dropsy. The deceased was one of the oldest residents of this part of the state as she was born August 5, 1846, in Austria, coming to America with her family whose name was Baumann when she was 22 years of age. They settled on a farm near Olivia. In 1876 she was married at Holy Trinity to Frank Gruber and they made their home in the farming community of Lafayette. After their children were grown, the father and mother retired to New Ulm to make their home and there Mrs. Gruber died in 1914, after five year's residence in our city. Mrs. Gruber then lived for several years with her son on the old home farm, then for a year with her daughter at Searles, and for the past 11 years she has made her home with another daughter, Mrs. Wolfgang Brey, in Lafayette. The surviving sons and daughters are Anton and Frank of New Ulm, Wolfgang and Joseph of Lafayette and Mrs. Mike Hegler of Searles and Mrs. Brey. There are 23 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Frank Altmann, and one brother Joseph Baumann live in New Ulm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 from Holy Trinity and burial will be in the Catholic cemetery.
