HUGHES Funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Patrick Hughes of Lake Prairie township, an account of whose sudden death appeared in the Herald of last week, were held from St.Peter's Catholic church last Saturday morning. All of her children came to St. Peter to attend the funeral, and scores of her friends and neighbors assembled to pay her a last tribute of respect. Solemn high mass was conducted by Rev. Father Cahill of Le Sueur, assisted by Rev. Father Maran and Rev. Father Mamer of this city. Mrs. Hughes, whose maiden name was Mary Sheehan, was born in Erin, Waukesha county, Wisconsin, Dec. 8, 1849, and was 63 years of age. She came to Minnesota with her parents when a young girl. On Dec. 25, 1871, she was untied in marriage in this city to Patrick Hughes, her surviving husband, and together they settled in Lake Prairie, where she continued to make her home till her death occurred on April 6, 1913. Mrs. Hughes was a devout Christian, and had long been a member of St. Anne's parish at Le Sueur. She was a woman of charitable impulses, and many a home that had been darkened by death or suffering was made brighter by her presence. The deceased was the mother of eleven children.
