Death was due to gallstones and complications. About six weeks ago, she suffered a fall from an upstairs room and since then had been failing rapidly. The deceased was a native of Luxemburg, Germany, where she was born March 27, 1837. She came to this country with her parents when a young girl and the family settled at Port Washington, Wis. Several years later, the deceased was married to Jacob Mans who preceded her to the great beyond in 1874. A short time after their marriage the young couple came west to Minnesota, settling in Belgrade township in the year 1859. Mrs. Mans lived through the strenuous times of early pioneer days. During the Indian outbreak, she and the children where forced to flee to St. Peter for protection while Mr. Mans remained with his neighbors to protect his home. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Mans continued to live on the farm, which is managed by her son, Peter, until two years ago when she went to St. Joseph's hospital at Mankato where she had been cared for. Nine children where born to her, of whom two preceded her in death. She is survived by the following: Frank Mans, Mrs. Adam Jutz, Brighton; Mrs. Mary Leonard, St. Peter; Battes Mans, Belgrade; Peter, on the home farm; Mrs. John Jungers, Grafton, Wis., and Mrs. J.C. Zins, Nicollet. The funeral took place yesterday morning at 10 o'clock from the Belgrade Catholic church, the Rev. M. Moitzheim officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery beside the remains of her husband. May she rest in peace.
