From The Nicollet Leader, December 31, 1904:

   Chronicle of the death of Mrs Sophia Mieske, who
passed away at the home of her son, Ardy Johnson, at
8:30 o'clock last Monday morning. She was 68 years of
age and was a native of Germany. She came to this
country in 1851 and first settled in Joliet, Illinois
where she remained three years, then removed to
LeSueur County, Minnesota, then to Nicollet County in
this township. She is survived by four sons, William
Engel, Ardy Johnson and Otto Mieske of Nicollet and D
T Johnson of Hendricks, Minnesota.
