Dorn of Brighton township died at St. Alexander's hospital at New Ulm Tuesday morning following an operation for gall-stones and obstruction of the bowels. She became ill last week and was taken to the hospital Sunday and was operated upon the same morning. Another operation became necessary and was performed Monday evening in the hope of saving her life, but she never rallied from it and breathed her last about six hours later. The deceased whose maiden name was Maggie Sontag, was born in Joliet, Ill., Sept. 13 1853 and was 59 years of age when she answered Death's summons. Her parents removed to Nicollet county shortly before the Indian outbreak and she grew to womanhood in Brighton township. She was married to J. H. Dorn, her surviving husband, on Jan. 25, 1876 and they have made their home on a farm in Brighton ever since with the exception of about fifteen years when they resided in this village. She has been at all times a real helpmeet to her husband and a good and kind mother to her five children, Anton S. Dorn, Mrs. Fred Bongards and Mrs. Theo. Manderfeld who reside at New Ulm and Miss Mary and Charles Dorn who are still at home. She is also survived by three brother and four sisters, viz: Wm. and Nick Sontag of Brighton, Chas. Sontag of Granby, Mrs. Susan Dorn and Mrs. Frank Mans of Brighton, Mrs. John Schaefer and Miss Helen Sontag of New Ulm. The funeral was held yesterday morning at 10 o'clock from the Swan Lake Catholic church and interment was made in the church cemetery nearby, Rev. W. J. Skluzacek officiating. The relatives have the deepest sympathy of the community in their sad bereavement.
