Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Vivian Christensen Mrs. Peter Johannes Obituary appeared October 26, 1921 in unknown paper Died October 23, 1921 Death came very unexpectedly to Mr. Peter Johannes, nee Miss Mary Rising, of Nicollet, who passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Epper, Center Street, here Sunday night at 10:40 o'clock. She had motored from Nicollet to Sleepy Eye in company with her son-in-law, Henry Epper, and family Sunday, to visit relatives at the latter place, and was, apparently, enjoying the best of health. Mrs. Johannes complained about not feeling well, late in the afternoon, and at about 5:30 o'clock the homeward trip was started. Upon arriving in New Ulm, it was noticed that her condition was growing more serious. The patient was taken to the Epper home, whither medical aid was summoned, but she failed to rally and grew steadily worse until death ensued. Deceased was born in Brighton township, Nicollet county, nearly 63 years ago. Her first husband, Anton Dorn, preceded her in death some 25 years ago, and about 3 years later she was married to her surviving husband, besides whom she leaves five children from her first union to mourn her demise. They are: Mrs. Henry Epper and John Dorn, Nicollet; Miss Anna Dorn, St. Peter; Matt. Dorn, Mankato, and Anton Dorn, Thief River Falls, Minn. One son, Jacob Dorn, passed away in this city about three years ago. Mrs. Johannes is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Charles Sondag, Swan Lake, and Mrs. John Langenfeld, Hastings, Minn. A half-brother, Adam Epper of this city, and a half-sister, Mrs. Peter Schaefer of Minneapolis. Funeral services will be conducted this (Wednesday) morning at 10 o'clock at the Nicollet Catholic church and interment will be made in the Catholic cemetery there.
