Okenfuss dated May 8, 2000.) MARGARET HENDEL BAUER (1869-1900) Margaret Hendel, daughter of Phillip and Catherine, was also born in Landscheid, Luxembourg, on 26 March 1869. As an infant she emigrated with her parents and two brothers and came to live in Caledonia, Minnesota, in June 1869. She was raised there and moved with her family to Alton, Iowa, then to Adrian, Minnesota. She married William J. Bauer in Adrian, Minnesota, in 1891, and had six children. She died of pneumonia on 2 Apri1 1900 at the age of 31. Several of her brothers and sisters each took one of her children to raise. They were: Katherine (Katie), Genevieve (Jennie), Leo, Doris, Michael, and Amelia/ Armella. Katherine (Katie) Bauer was raised by Anna & Lorenz Neuhoff. Supposedly an uncle, Henry Pfieffer, no doubt on the Bauer side, raised Jennie in Wisconsin. Leo was raised by Jake and Mary Hendel. Doris was raised by Theresa & Matt Arens. Michael was raised by Rose and Edward Koessler , and Armella was raised by Lucy and Frank Thompson. William Bauer had been a blacksmith and manufactured the Adrian wagon. His business was advertised in the Wo11hington Guardian, a newspaper published in 1900 in Nobles County which had news of the surrounding towns. ======================================================================== Copyright Bob Arens 2005.
