Rose (1908) SVANTE KINDLUND, of Worthington, has resided in the county of Nobles thirty-one years, having come here direct from Sweden in 1877. He was born in the province of Jemtland, Sweden, Dec. 1, 1849, the son of M. B. Kindlund and Helen (Malberg) Kindlund. His father, who was an inspector for a wholesale lumber company and who also engaged in farming, died in his native county April 14, 1905. His mother still resides in Sweden. In his native land Svante Kindlund worked at farming and painting, having followed his trade for a number of years. He came to the United States in 1877, spent a few months in Allamakee county, Iowa, and in November of the same year came to Nobles county. From Nels N. Langseth he bought the northeast quarter of section 22, Bigelow township, and for four years engaged in farming. He then moved to Worthington, and for twelve or thirteen years worked at his trade. He then went into the insurance business, which he has conducted ever since and of which he has made a decided success. He served one term (1888) as member of the city council. Mr. Kindlund was married in Sweden to Lisa Pearson. To them have been born three children-Helen, who died March 5, 1908; Emma and Martha.
