Okenfuss dated May 8, 2000.) ANNA HENDEL NEUHOFF (1873-1953) Anna Hendel, daughter of Phillip and Catherine, was born in Caledonia, Minnesota, on 15 July 1873. This was the date recorded in the Houston County Courthouse records and also in the baptismal records of St. Peter's Church in Caledonia. She was baptized on 20 July 1873. The family records and her death card had the 24 July 1873 as her birthdate. She married Lorenz Neuhoff on 25 September 1900 in Adrian, Minnesota. He was born the 1st of September 1872 in Oberasbach, Germany, and emigrated in 1895 to the U. S. Anna and Lorenz lived for several years in St. Louis, Missouri, where Lorenz owned a grocery and meat market. Lorenz had been a clerk in the same store which was owned by Otto Lang, the brother-in-law of Catherine Busch Hendel. In 1905/6 he sold his business to the Hendel Brothers (first cousins of Anna ' s) and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he started another grocery and meat market. He later went into the meat packing business with his brother Henry. The first two children of Anna and Lorenz were born in St. Louis and baptized at Holy Ghost Church. The rest of their six children were born in Nashville. Their children were: Hazel (1901-1997) who married William Carlton (1881-1968) and had two children. Their second child was Arthur (1903-1982) who married Marjorie Nunn and had one child; Lorenz (1906-1988) married Catherine Holliday and had six children; Margaret (1909-1981) married Dr. George Holloway and had three children; Genevieve (1911-1976) married Robin Thurmond and had two children; and Clare (1916-1994) married Harry Morris and had two children. Lorenz died 8 May 1948 and Anna died 14 November 1953 in Clearwater, Florida. As of 1988 they had sixteen grandchildren, 37 great- grandchildren, and 7 great-great- grandchildren.
