Elsie was born on February 16, 1915 to Fred and Evelyn (Kuhn) Brodale at their home in Emerald, Wisconsin. Elsie was born weighing just two and a half pounds. To keep this miracle baby warm, she was wrapped up and placed in a shoe box that set on a warm, open oven door. Elsie grew up on a dairy farm near Emerald. She attended and graduated from high school in Superior, WI. Following graduation, Elsie worked for a man named Art Pierce. During this time, she had the opportunity to meet his nephew, Clifford Daniels, who eventually became her husband. Elsie and Clifford were married on September 2, 1940 in Nobles County. Elsie and Clifford made their home on a farm near Worthington, MN. This union was blessed with 4 children: Chloe, Renee, Jeanne, and Timothy. Elsie spent most of her time caring for her family and also enjoyed cooking and was a skilled seamstress. Elsie and her family also enjoyed vacationing at several of the lakes in the Park Rapids area. They spent many of their summers traveling from Worthington to the Park Rapids area to enjoy the lakes. As her children grew, Elsie also became more active in her church. After retirement, Elsie and Clifford moved to their vacation destination of Park Rapids. Elsie became very active in the Riverside United Methodist Church and participated in many church circles and enjoyed all church functions where food was involved. For this dedication she was very well known for her time spent in the church kitchen. Elsie also spent time as a volunteer in her community and dedicated time at the Mahube Community Council and was also active in the Friends of the Library and served as their treasurer for several years. Elsie's greatest joy was the time that she spent with her family. She especially took pleasure in special occasions and holidays that she celebrated with her family. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and when the family was gathered, it was likely that Elsie had one of them in her lap. Above all, Elsie devoted her life to her family whom she loved dearly. Elsie is survived by her husband of 67 years, Clifford; four children: Chloe (Robert) Carlson of Hastings, MN, Renee (Delano) Dorpinghaus of Fulda, MN, Jeanne (Curtis) Ronneberg of Sebeka, MN, and Timothy (Wanda) Daniels of Slayton, MN; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
