RALPH LEWIS-2005 Dr. Ralph E. Lewis, Jr., 70, of Worthington, died Saturday, March 26, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN. Ralph was born in Duluth on May 12, 1934 to Ralph E. Lewis, Sr. and Borghild (Berg) Lewis. He graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1952. After graduation, he entered Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Minneapolis where he met his future bride, Karen Dobson. They were married on December 26, 1955. Ralph entered into Chiropractic practice in LeSueur, MN in 1956 and Minneapolis in 1957. Drs. Ralph and Karen established Worthington Chiropractic Clinic in July 1960 at 913 4th Avenue. In 1965, the practice was moved to 609 Tenth Street and Lewis Chiropractic Clinic was established. The practice was later moved to 1301 Diagonal Road in 1979 until their retirement in 2001. They continued to work from their home office at 1732 Miller until his death. He was a member of First Lutheran Church Choir since 1960. He was a Jaycee in his younger years and became a charter member of the Early Risers iwanis Club in 1968. As a Kiwanis member, he served as club president and secretary for several years. He worked with Boy Scout Troop #134 for close to 15 years. He was instrumental in helping several young men achieve their Eagle Scout honor while he took part in the Eagle Scout program. This was important to him, as he was an Eagle Scout himself. He was very proud of all his grandchildren, two of the boys have achieved the Eagle Award and a third one is nearing that goal. He enjoyed his family of 6 children, County and State Fair 4-H events, sporting events for his grandchildren, family trips, camping, hunting, even hunting moose in Alaska with his uncle and fishing at Big Lake, MN. Ralph is survived by his wife, Karen; son, Dr. Clayton (Kim) Lewis, Jackson; Sheila (Dan) Hawkinson, Fulda; Trisha (Don) Schlichte, Rio Rancho, NM; Pam Lewis, Hopkins; Mona Lewis, Hopkins; Elaine (Mike) Walker, Round Lake; 1 brother, Richard Lewis, Edina; 3 sisters, Alyce (Rik) Sorensen, Walnut Creek, CA; Carol (Robert) Burgess, Tower, MN; Kay (Ric) Klar, Portland, OR; 19 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Kevin Schlichte. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Richard Ricker officiating.
