Bessie Fredrika (Fransen) Vander Ziel

 

Bessie Fredrika (Fransen) Vander Ziel, age 95, of Leota, died Friday, 

January 6th, 2006, at the Slayton Manor, in Slayton.  She was born to 

Gerrit and Gerritje Fredrika boer Fransen on Dec. 21st, 1910 at Hull, IA.  

She attended country school.  She married George Vander Ziel on Mar. 

12th, 1931.  To this union nine children were born:  Bernard Vander Ziel 

of Leota, MN, Gerrit (Wilma) Vander Ziel of Poway, CA, Burdena (Gerald) 

Buys of Slayton, MN, Harold (Cora) Vander Ziel of Sioux Falls, SD, Henry 

(Yvonne) Vander Ziel of Lowell, MI, Greta (Nick) De Wolf of Lansing, MI, 

Katherine (Larry) Vander Grift of Ottawa, Canada, Betty Lotterman of St. 

Paul, MN and Richard (Nancy) Vander Ziel of Lake Wilson, MN and one 

sister, Gertrude of Worthington, MN.  

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George in 1978, 

one daughter-in-law, Kathryn, one grand-daughter, three brothers and one 

sister.

 

Funeral was held 10:30 am Tuesday at the Ebenezer Christian Reformed 

Church in Leota.  Officiated by Rev. Joe Vanden Akker. Burial will be in 

the Leota Community Cemetery.
