Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Martha J Hicks I am not sure which newspaper featured the article, but it was most likely from Ada, Minnesota where he resided. Knute G. Lee was my great-great-grandfather. He died in 1905. Death of Knute G. Lee. The many friends of Knute G. Lee were surprised and shocked to learn of his death, which occurred at Bethseda hospital, in Crookston, at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday. The physicians say that the immediate cause of his death was gradual paralysis of the lower part of the body due to a fall at the saw mill in Ada Sept. 14. At that time he fell breaking a leg. A week later he was taken to the hospital, where gradual paralysis, as stated, set in and he gradually grew weaker until the end. His son, Will, arrived in Crookston fifteen minutes after he died. The remains were brought to Ada Tuesday night. The funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m., at Our Saviour's Church, conducted by Rev. Th. Larson. Mr. Lee was born April 20, 1852, at Decorah, Iowa. In 1875 he was married and in 1882 he came to Ada where he has since resided. In 1884 he was elected sheriff of Norman county, a place he filled for six years. Through his connection with this office he became one of the most widely known men in the county, and he has friends in every locality who will regret to learn of his death. The family have the sincerest sympathy of the entire community. Mr. Lee leaves a wife and seven children, who are Mrs. A. J. Johnson, Mrs. H. Schliesser, and George, William, Emma, Ray, and Kenneth Lee. _________________________ Martha J. Hicks http://www.geocities.com/marthajanehicks/
