BUTENHOFF OBIT, #677T Name and date of newspaper unknown Clarence H. Butenhoff, age 67, passed away unexpectedly late Tuesday afternoon in a Fargo hospital. He had suffered a heart attack earlier in the afternoon at his farm home. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church of Sabin with Pastor LeRoy Philaya officiating. Rose Marie Johnk will be the soloist with Mrs. Claude Nash at the organ. Pallbearers will be six nephews, Orval Butenhoff, Floyd Butenhoff, Roy Butenhoff, David Butenhoff, Ronald Butenhoff and Alvin Hansen. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday after 3:00 p.m. in the Dobmeier Funeral Home. Clarence, son of Albert G. Butenhoff and Emma Moll, was born Aug. 14, 1912, on his father's farm near Baker. He attended school and grew to manhood in the Baker area. He married Ellen Erickson of Fargo June 11, 1939, at the home of his father near Baker. The couple then moved to their farm home in Alliance Township near Barnesville where he had made his home until the time of his death. He had retired from farming in 1974. He was baptised, confirmed and a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Sabin and had served as the church secretary and was on the Board of Education for many years. He had served as secretary and treasurer of Aid Association for Lutherans for 15 years and had been a member of the Barnesville Rod and Gun Club. He is survived by his wife, Ellen, and two daughters, Dr. Shirley Scott, San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Clay (Beverly) Kaufman, Huntsville, Ala. He is also survived by two brothers and one sister, Willie Butenhoff and Leonard Butenhoff, both of Barnesville, and Mrs. Irving (Evelyn) Sether, Rothsay.
