GRANT PASSED AWAY JUNE 16TH _________________ Funeral Services Were Held Last Sunday at Son's Home Elizabeth Jane Grant, a beloved woman of Paddock township, passed away Friday, June 16, at 8:25 o'clock p.m., death occuring on the old homestead which she and her husband settled in the early days. Elizabeth Jane Sansborn was born at St.Maria, Ontario, Canada, on January 24,1853. She moved with her folks to Rondalia, Fayette county, Iowa, when about 14 years old and was united in marriage to John N. Grant on September 5,1877. They moved to Minnesota in 1880 and settled on a homestead in Paddock township where her life ended on June 16. Three children were born to this union, namely: Elmer O. Grant, of Paddock; Charley A. Grant, of Plummer, Idaho and Mrs. Nellie L. Keller, of Jamestown, N. Dak. She leaves besides her children, one sister, Mrs. Ella Taggert, of St. Paul, Minn., and three brothers, Brice Sansborn, of Tacoma, Wash.; Robert Sansborn, of Sherwook, N. Dak., and John Sansborn, of Paddock. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Deceased had made her home with her son Elmer O. Grant, since her husband passed away six years ago last March. Hardening of the arteries confined her to bed for the past three months and pneumonia was the direct cause of her death. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and was always ready to assist a neighbor in time of need or sickness. Like all pioneers she borne bravely the hardships and privations of the early settlers and in her death a devoted mother and a true friend is taken away. Funeral services were held at the Elmer O. Grant home Sunday afternoon and burial was made in the Hillview Cemetery , a large number of neighbors and friends attending the services , which were conducted by Rev. A. L. Olney of Verndale. Arrangements were under the direction of E. J. Wheeler , Funeral Director. ______________________________ Card of Thanks We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all those who so kindly assisted us during the illness and at the death of our beloved mother and sister.
