FileFormatted by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Claire Grant ========================================================================= Transcribed exactly as it is written in the Sebeka Review - Sept 18,1992 WAYNE GRANT Wayne Fred Grant, age 83, of Sebeka, Minn, died on Friday September 11, 1992 at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga. Wayne was born to Elmer and Freida Grant on May 22,1909, Wales, North Dakota. As a young boy, he moved with his family to the Hillview area, where he was raised and attended school. After completing school, Wayne worked in the Wadena area for several years. On July 7, 1953, Wayne was united in marriage to Doris L. Uttermark. Wayne and Doris moved to Tennessee and and then in 1958 returned to Sebeka. Wayne worked construction until his retirement in 1974. Wayne was also noted for his fine hand-crafted woodworking items which many people enjoyed. Wayne was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Menahga. Being a very special person, Wayne will be dearly missed by many family and friends. Wayne is survived by his wife, Doris of Sebeka; three daughters, Connie and her husband Jerry Rhoades of Marshfield, Wisconsin, Laura and her husband Douglas Lilienthal of Marshfield, Wisconsin, and Debra Kangas of Sebeka; one son, Kenneth Earl Grant and his wife Alma of Hazen, North Dakota; Four sisters, Grace Fullerton of Sebeka, Violet Johnson of Blaine, Minn., Pearl Zimmerman of Parkers Prairie, and Elsie Robinson of Arizona, one brother, Stanley Grant of New York Mills, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister an one grandson. Funeral services were held September 15, 1992 at the Assembly of God Church in Menahga with Reverend Timothy Lyons officiating. Lisa Lyons was the organist and the soloist was Shelley Kangas who sang "Amazing Grace" and "In the Garden" violinist was Violet Koch. Congergational hymns were "O How I Love Jesus" and "Jesus Loves Me" Honary Pallbearers were Marshall McNurlin, Verdie Salmela, David Tullis, Norman Kangas, Henry McCormick, and Larry Komppa. Active casket bearers included David Grant, Bruce Lee, Jeffery Rhoades, James Rhoades, Joel Rhoades, Shawn Lilienthal, Joshua Kangas and Jamie Kangas. Internment at the West Sebeka cemetery. All were provided by Cardini-Behrens Funeral Homes of Sebeka and Menahga. Submitter's Note: {Earl & Wayne Grant are also my uncles, Earl is is buried in the Bethany/Paddock Cemetery, Hillview,Minn.
