Hemler who was buried there along side of his father-in- law, Mr. Spray. Mr. Spray, who came through Arizona in 1876 with his family and including Mrs. J. J. Hemler and Nancy Spray, her sister, made a second visit to Arizona in 1917 and remained with the J. J. Hemler family until he passed away nearly 20 years ago. Beside being related to Mr. Spray, Mrs. Joe Hemler and sister Nancy are first cousins to Mr. Mulholland who lived for over 25 years in the valley near Camp Verde. Funeral services for Mrs. Clarie Hemler were held at the Community Church in Clarkdale, Ariz. Thomas B. Jones ably delivered the sermon in which works of condolence and cheer were given to lighten the burden of those surviving. Following arrival at the graveside the ritualistic services of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose Chapter 336, Clarkdale were impressively performed. The services were terminated by T. B. Jones. Mrs. Claire Hemler had been a victim of influenza and pneumonia and was on the high road to recovery when on February 17 in the afternoon she suddenly passed away. Her heart, apparently unable to perform further after the severe strain of the malady, ceased to beat. The many varied and beautiful floral offerings and the large concourse following the hearse to the grave mute evidence of the love and esteem in which Mrs. Hemler was held in the Verde district. The pall bearers chosen from the American Legion and friends of the family were C. V. Case, John Bower, Jean Sullivan, August C. Honsohn, H. A. Arnold, and William Roberts. Claire Emilie Hemler was born September 21st. 1902, in Paddock Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota. September 15, 1924 she was married to Thomas Benjamin Hemler. The couple joined Mr. Hemler's parents and family in Verde District in 1928 and they have resided in Cottonwood, Clarkdale and rural vicinity ever since. At the time of her demise, Mrs. Hemler was living at their home 506 Main Street in Clarkdale. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband Thomas Benjamin Hemler, a son Joseph Hemler, her parents, E.O.
