Tomhave of Cloquet, had died very suddenly Friday, Dec. 7 of a heart attack. Dr. Tomhave was born in Fergus Falls, Dec. 30, 1900, the son of Louis and Anna Tomhave. He grew to manhood here and was graduated from the Fergus Falls High School in the class of 1920 and from the dental college at the University of Minnesota in 1926. He was practicing dentist in Cloquet at the time of his death, having made that city his home since he entered the dental profession. During WWII he served with the rank of Major for three years. Dr. Tomhave was married to Lorrie Tripp in Minneapolis in 1926, and they were the parents of a son. Dr. Jack Tomhave, who has been associated with his father in business in Cloquet, and one daughter, Sue, who is attending college in Miami. Dr. Tomhave also is survived by his brother, Vernon of rural Fergus Falls, and one sister, Mrs. Marvin (Lorna) Winther of Hoffman. His parents preceded him in death, his father dying in December 1953 and his mohter in January 1954. Dr. Tomhave frequently visited Fergus Falls and he has a great many friends here. Dr. Tomhave had suffered from heart trouble and it had been advised that he take things easier for awhile. He and his wife and daughter had gone to Miami for the winter, while his son carried on the practice in Cloquet. He had written a letter to this brother only the day before his death stating that he was feeling better. The day of his death he was sitting in a chair reading a book, while his wife went out for a brief shopping trip. On her return, she found him still in the chair, holding his book, but he had expired, apparently without warning. Funeral services are to be held Friday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m. at Cloquet. His brother and other members of the family expect to attend from here." ========================================================================= Copyright Judy Clarke 2007.
