FileFormat by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Judy Clarke Submitted: August 2007 ========================================================================= Fergus Falls Daily Journal 9/15/1958 - Bernhard Martin Twedt, died at him home near Underwood at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30th, 1958 from cancer, of which he has been suffering sense Dec 1954. He had surgery several times and everything possible was done for him at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis. He has been confined to his bed at home the past five weeks. He was a verteran of World War I. Bernie (as he was known by his relatives and friends) was the oldest child of Bertha and Carl Twedt and was born July 17, ____ in Lincoln county near Canton, S.D. His parents moved from South Dakota to Aurdal township near Fergus Falls in the spring of 1914. He was married to Isabella Mauson Sept 13, 1931, in Fergus Falls by Rev. Elias Pederson. Surviving are his wife and two daughters, Bernell (Mrs. Tom Bachmeier, who is a registered nurse) of Grand Forks, N.D., and Benora, who has been staying at home this summer and one grandson, Terry Bachmeier, also six brothers and sisters, Conrad and Lawrence of Fergus Falls, Anna (Mrs. henry Sorben) of Three Oaks, Mich., Nels of Aurdal, Clara (Mrs. David Grage) of near Battle Lake and Gussie (Mrs. Julius Olson) of Barnesville and several nephews and nieces. Funeral service will be held at the Vang Lutheran church of Aurdal, where he had been a member of the congregation. The service has been tentatively set for Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Vang.
