Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Carol Eddleman From "Hinckley News": "Class of 1928 Holds 50th Reunion" Classmates met and memories wee recalled at a gala reunion of the Class of 1928 of Hinckley High School Mr. L.W. Brown, their Superintendent, and Mrs. Brown of Starbuck as well as Mr. and Mrs. Felix Kaplan of Aitkin were honored guests. Mrs. Kaplan (Miss Aerke) was the Principal and English Department Head in 1928. Mr. Kaplan taught Science, Agriculture and coached athletics at that time. Mr. Brown has now retired from education but remains an active member of community affairs in Starbuck. The Kaplans are retired and the Lake Region Realty of Aitkin is their interest and hobby. Classmates were happy to hear from their former eighth grade teacher, Mrs. Leppink (Grace Toering) of Buffalo, Wyoming. Attending the reunion from out-of-state were Mrs. Van (Ivene Curryer) of San Fernando, California and Mrs. Opal Murray (Opal Saxton) of Helena, Montana. Also present were Minnesotans Mrs. Remick (Angela Zimbrick) of Rochester, Oscar Schott of Edina, Mrs. Unger (Lorna Wolter) of Rush Lake, Mrs. Alstrand (Kathryn Kaltenhouser) of Lindstrom. Hinckleyites who attended and were members of the class were Mrs. Ralph Sikkink (Marion Jaquis), Mrs. Curt Sanford (Margaret Currie), Rudolph Johnson and Edna Schaefer. Only four members of this class were unable to attend. They were Mrs. Buchl (Alice Ziegler) of Bradenton, Florida, Cloyd Brown of Downing, California, Mrs. Lynn (Muriel Robertson) of California and Mrs. Greely (Nellie Nicholas) of Troy, Illinois. Thirty-four persons including Mr. and Mrs. Bob Nelson, Alice Lundgren, some members of the Class of 1929 and spouses and family of class members of 1928 enjoyed the beautiful buffet at Tobie's Little Kettle. It will be an evening long remembered.
