His siblings were: Henry Claudius, Emma Dorothea, Herman John, Otto Christian and Richard Bernard. Carl emigrated March 25, 1885 to Scott Co, IA with his parents and other relatives on the ship Gellert. The group left Hamburg, Germany and arrived at New York City. After a couple years (1887) (not exactly sure), Carl and his parents moved to a farm near Clutier, Oneida township Tama Co, IA. Much later, Carl moved to Trosky, Pipestone, MN. Carl never married, nor had children. Carl William Arp died December 27, 1926 at Elmer, Pipestone, Minnesota while living with his sister, Emma and was buried at the Glorfeld Cemetery (also known as Oneida cemetery), Oneida, Tama, IA. Found in the 1900 census at Oneida, Tama, IA: name recorded as Charles, birth December 1877 Germany, emigrated 1885: John Christian Arp 60, Katherine Arp 59, Charles Arp 22, Otto R Arp 25. Found in the 1895, 1910, 1915, 1920 censuses at Oneida, Tama, IA: 1895: Carl William Arp age 17. 1910: Christian Arp 70, Caroline Arp 69, Charley Arp 33. 1915: Carl William Arp age 38. 1920: Carl W Arp 42, Caroline Arp 78 (mother), Henry C Arp 19 (brother). Obituary from Pipestone Couny Star, Pipestone, Minnesota, Dec., 31, 1926 CARL ARP SUCCUMBED TO PNEUMONIA MONDAY - Elmer Township Farmer passed Away - Burial at Dysart, Iowa: The death of Carl W. Arp, a resident of Elmer township, Pipestone county, occurred Monday, December 27th, 1926. His death was caused by pneumonia. Funeral services were held at ten o'clock Thursday morning at a church at Trosky, following which the remains were taken to Dysart, Iowa for burial. The late Mr. Arp was born in Germany on December 8, 1876. He had reached the age of fifty years and nineteen days at the time of his death. Mr. Arp was not married. He resided at the home of his sister, Mrs. Emma Lorenzen. Additional Comments: Censuses transcribed as found, obvious spelling errors not corrected.
