He had two sisters: Laura Margarethe (born March 10, 1898 Tama, IA, married Theodore Hans Oye September 5, 1916 Pipestone, MN, died March 13, 1986 Pipestone, MN) and Louisa Caroline (born April 5, 1904 Pipestone, MN, married Frank Frederick Brockberg December 6, 1922 Pipestone, MN, died October 10, 1994 Pipestone, MN). Family moved from Tama County, Iowa to Rock County, Minnesota and are found in the 1900 census living at Denver, Rock, MN: Herman John Arp 28, Anna Arp 22, John Arp 4, Laura Arp 3. Found in the 1905 and 1910 censuses living at Elmer, Pipestone, MN: 1910: Herman John Arp 38, Anna Arp 32, John Christian Arp 13, Laura M Arp 11, Louisa Arp 6. John Christian Arp married Anna Amanda Rath on September 3, 1919 at Luverne, Rock, MN. The couple had 4 children: Phyllis (born 1920 Elmer, Pipestone, MN); Lois (born October 7, 1922 Pipestone, MN, died before 2008); Lorraine June (born June 17, 1925 Pipestone, MN, died December 28, 2008 Pipestone, MN) and John Myron (born Aprl 17, 1928 Elmer, Pipestone, MN, died March 19, 2012 Luverne, Rock, MN). Family found in the 1920 and 1930 censuses at Elmer, Pipestone, MN: 1920: John C Arp 23, Anna Arp 23. 1930:John C Arp 33, Anna Arp 33, Phyllis Arp 9, Lois Arp 7, Lorraine Arp 4 10/12, Marion Arp 1 11/12 (John Myron). John Christian Arp died July 8, 1976 at Pipestone, MN and was buried at the Trosky Cemetery, Trosky, Pipestone, MN. Newspaper Obituary from Pipestone County Star, July 16, 1976: John Christian Arp, 80, of Pipestone died Thursday, July 8, 1976 at the Pipestone County Hospital. Services were held today, July 12th, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Pipestone, Minnesota, with the Rev. Charles Boeder officiating. Pallbearers were: Allen Staeffler, Curtis Arp, Daniel Arp, Dean Arp, Michael Arp, and Dennis Arp. Interment was in the Trosky cemetery. John Christian Arp was born on June 13, 1896, to Herman and Anna Arp in Tama County, near Dysart, Iowa. at the age of 8 years, he moved with his family to Rock Co., west of Hardwick, Minn. There he attended school in Rock County and grew up. On Sep. 3, 1919, John was united in marriage to Anna Rath at Luverne. They made their home on a farm in Elmer Twnshp. near Trosky until their retirement in 1964 when they moved into Pipestone. He entered the hospital on June 23rd. He is survived by three daughters, Phyllis, Lois, and Lorraine, and one son, Myron Arp; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Louise Brockberg of Pipestone and Laura, Mrs. Ted Oye of Luverne, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
