Duncan can be found in the 1880 census living at Rock Springs, Sweetwater, Wyoming with his parents: Alexander Blair 32, Sarah J. Blair 32, Elizabeth Blair 9, Duncan Blair 7, Raphiel Barros 30 from Mexico, John Mc Ready 24 from Canada (latter 2 men are hired ranch hands). Family notes said Duncan Blair and Hans Klinker (who married Emma Arp) were cousins (that is not correct, Duncan was Hans' brother in law, Hans Klinker and Dorothea Klinker Blair were brother and sister). Also said that Duncan's family was from Scotland; Hans' from Germany. Duncan lived in Wyoming at the same time as Hans and Emma Klinker and drove a freight wagon for a while. He later served as a sheriff at Moffit County, Colorado and possibly Rawlins and Baggs, Wyoming and was a state ranger on the Colorado/Wyoming line. He was also a rancher/farmer, his father was a sheep rancher. Duncan Blair married Dorothea Katherine Klinker on November 25, 1897 at Baggs, Carbon, Wyoming. The couple had nine children. Couple found in 1900 census at Hahns Peak, Columbine, Upper Snake River, Four Mile Precinct, Routt County, Colorado: Duncan, wife Dora; George age 18 (Duncan's brother), Sara 2, (Ethel) Florence 1 (Duncan's daughters). (John & Margaret Knuth and children Grover, Willie and Dora were on the same census page living beside the Duncan Blair family. Margaret Knuth and Dorothea Blair were sisters.) Found in the 1910 census at Precinct # 15, Routt, Colorado: Dunkan Blair 36, Dorothy K Blair 31, Serah K Blair 11, Ethel F Blair 10, Claus D Blair 8, Elizabeth M Blair 4, Charles A Blair 2, Henery C Blair 2 months. Farmer. (Censuses transcribed as found, obvious spelling errors not corrected.) In 1911, Duncan moved his family to a ranch at Snake River, Colorado. In 1917, the family moved to a farm at Hatfield, Pipestone, Minnesota near Dorothea's mother, Katherine Ketelsen Klinker Brumm. Found in 1920, 1930 censuses at Hatfield, Gray, Pipestone, MN: 1920: Duncan Blair 46, Dora C Blair 40, Claus D Blair 17, Elizabeth M Blair 14, Charles A Blair 12, Henry K Blair 9, Dorothy E Blair 7, Anna M Blair 4 yrs, 1 mo, Margeret M Blair 1 yr, 8 mos. 1930: Duncon Blair 57, Dora L Blair 52, Charles Blair 22, Henry Blair 20, Dortha Blair 17, Anna Blair 14, Margerit Blair 11. Duncan Blair died October 7, 1940 at Trosky, Pipestone, MN and is buried at the Trosky Cemetery, Trosky, Pipestone, MN. Obituary from Pipestone Leader, October 11, 1940: Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian church for Duncan Blair of Hatfield, Minnesota, whose death occurred Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Ashton, MN Memorial hospital. Mr. Blair had been in failing health for some time and had been a patient at the hospital for three weeks. The Rev. P. L. Smith, conducted the services. Burial was in the Trosky Cemetery. William Lubke, John Shaffer, Fred Hintz, D. F. Shadeck, Julius Wolf, and Nick Peschon served as pallbearers. Duncan Blair was born January 14, 1873, at Rock Springs, Wyoming. He was 67 years at the time of his death. He was united in marriage Nov. 25, 1897, to Miss Dorothea Klinker. The couple came to Pipestone county in 1917 and engaged in farming until 1932 when they retired and moved into Hatfield to reside. He is survived by his wife and seven children: Sarah Jane Katherine (Mrs. George W. LeGendre), St. Paul, MN; Dorothea Emily (Mrs. Merle Walter Stevens), Edgerton; Elizabeth Margaret (Mrs. LeRoy Ferdinand Stoltenberg), Mrs. Anna Martha (Mrs. Esker Thomas Shaffer), Margaret Mildred (Mrs. Henry William Lubke), all of Pipestone; and Henry Klinker Blair and Charles Alexander Blair of Hatfield. Two children preceded him in death: Ethel Florence (Mrs. Edward Rogers) and Claus Duncan Blair.
