He married Catherina (Katherine) Margaret Ketelsen Klinker about 1890 at Kurberg, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Margaret had been married once before to a Hans Klinker who had died. Heinrich Brumm and Catherine had no children together. Heinrich became step-father to her children. Henry and Katherine Brumm and Katherine's children (Margaret Haddie Klinker, Hans Emil Klinker, Dorothea Katherine Klinker and Claus Klinker) emigrated from Germany by ship, leaving Hamburg, Germany on March 30, 1893; Ship Name: Columbia; Captain: Vogelgesang; Shipping Line: Hamburg-Amerikanische Packetfahrt-Actien-Gesellschaft; Ship Type: Dampfschiff; Accommodation: Zwischendeck; Ship Flag: Deutschland; Port of Departure: Hamburg; Port of Arrival: New York. The family traveled west by train and wagon to Iowa, stopping at Scott and Tama County, Iowa and further on to Huron, South Dakota. They were looking for land to homestead on and settled at Huron, South Dakota where relatives were already living. Henry became a naturalized citizen at Huron, Beadle County, SD. Leaving South Dakota to seek better income, the family traveled west and it was recorded that Henry was ill most of the time, suffering from rheumatism. When they reached Wyoming, he began to feel better and so they settled at Baggs, WY. Around 1911, they moved back to Trosky, Minnesota. Obituary from Pipestone, Minnesota Leader, October 15, 1931: Henry Brumm passed away at his home at Trosky, Monday morning, October 12th, 1931 at 6:15 o'clock. Death was due to heart failure. Henry (Heinrich) Brumm was born in Rendsburg, Germany, April 23, 1859. He had reached the age of 72 years, 3 months, and 21 days. In the year 1890, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Catherine Klinker, who passed away May 5, 1931. They moved with their family to America in 1893. He leaves to mourn him, two stepsons, Hans Klinker, of Sleepy Eye; and Claus Klinker, at home; two step-daughters, Mrs. John Knuth of Trosky and Mrs. Duncan Blair of Hatfield; 21 step-grandchildren, 18 step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. W. Lorenzen of Rendsburg, Germany; one brother, Hans Brumm, of Neumunster, Germany; two half-brothers, John Brumm of Kiel, Germany; and H. Brumm of Koln, Germany. He was a resident of Pipestone County, MN for 20 years. The funeral will be held at the home this Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and at the Lutheran church at Trosky, at 2:00 o'clock. Burial will be in the Trosky cemetery. Found Henry Brumm in the 1900 census at Election District #15, Carbon, Wyoming with wife Catherine Brumm and stepson Claus Klinker, age 49. Found in the 1920, 1930 censuses at Elmer, Pipestone, MN: 1920: Henry Brunm 61, Catharina Brumm 69, Clause Klinker 39. 1930: Henry (Bruenn, spelling error) Brumm, age 71; Kathrine Brumm, age 79; Clause Klinker. Henry Brumm died Ocotber 12, 1931 at Trosky, Pipestone, MN and is buried at the Trosky Cemetery. Additional Comments: Censuses transcribed as found, obvious spelling errors not corrected.
