Grover Frederick Knuth was born July 27, 1894 at Huron, Beadle, South Dakota to 
John F Knuth and Margaret Haddie Klinker, the first of their five children. 

Found in the 1900 census at Four Mile, Routt, Colorado: John Knuth 36, Margaret 
M Knuth 27, Grover Knuth 5, Willie Knuth 3, Dora Knuth 1. 

Found in the 1910 census at Goose Prairie, Clay, Minnesota: John J F Knut 46, 
Margret M Knut 38, Grover F Knut 16, Villey Knut Jr. 14, Dora C Knut 12, Johnny 
C Knut 7, Walter E Knut 5. 

Grover married Clara Mathilda Peters on July 11, 1917 at Jasper, Pipestone, 
Minnesota. 

The couple had 6 children: 
John William (b August 12, 1918 Jasper, Pipestone, MN, d November 28, 1970 
Tracy, Lyon, Minnesota);

Velma Elizabeth (b April 2, 1922 Jasper, Pipestone, MN, d December 27, 1923 
Pipestone, MN); 

Evelyn (b February 23, 1924 Jasper, Pipestone, MN, married Richard Weilbaecher 
after 1940); 

Vila (b 1926 Jasper, Pipestone, MN, married Paul Allen after 1940); 

Lucille M (b August 1, 1928 Jasper, Pipestone, MN, married Michael Gaughn after 
1940) and 

Ruth (b 1931 Jasper, Pipestone, Minnesota, married Willys Van Newhyzen after 
1940).

Found in the 1920 census at Verdi, Lincoln, Minnesota: Grover Knuth 25, Willie 
J Knuth 22, Dora K Knuth 21, John K Knuth 16, Walter D Knuth 14, Clara M Knuth 
25, John W Knuth 1 yr 2 mos.

Found in the 1930 census at Elmer, Pipestone, Minnesota: Grover Knuth 35, Clara 
Knuth 35, John Knuth 11, Evelyn Knuth 6 yrs, 2 mos, Vila Knuth 4, Lucile Knuth 
2 yrs 11 mos.

Found in the 1940 census at Trosky, Pipestone, Minnesota: Grover Knuth 45, 
Clara Knuth 45, Evelyn Knuth 16, Vila Knuth 14, Lucille Knuth 11, Ruth Knuth 9. 

Grover Frederick Knuth died March 25, 1968 at Pipestone, Minnesota and is 
buried at the Trosky Cemetery, Trosky, Pipestone, Minnesota. 

Obituary from Pipestone County Star, March 28, 1968: 
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 27, from St. Paul Lutheran 
Church in Pipestone, Minnesota for Grover Knuth, 73, whose death occurred at 
his home here on Monday. The Rev. Willard Koch officiated. Pallbearers were: 
Alvin Stuckenbroker, Harry Stuckenbroker, William Reimer, Frank Reimer, Elmer 
Dahl and Norman Dahl. Honorary bearers were: Bill Weatherly, Nels Skaarhaug, 
Art Ostermeier, Willard Barton, Otto Meyer and George Jetter. 

Graveside services were by the American Legion. Burial was in the Trosky 
cemetery. 

Grover F. Knuth was born July 27, 1894, at Huron, S.Dakota, to John and 
Margaret Knuth. 

On July 11, 1917, he married Clara Peters at Jasper, Minn. He was a veteran of 
WW1 and a retired truck driver. He had lived in the Pipestone area for 27 
years. 

Survivors include his wife, Clara; son John of Tracy, Minn.; 4 daughters: 
Evelyn, Vila, Lucille and Ruth, 29 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild. He was 
preceded in death by one daughter Velma, 3 brothers, one sister, and his 
parents.
