FOREST REACHED RIPE AGE He Lived for Many Years in Winona, and Later in Saintly City. Samuel A. Forest, a pioneer of Winona, and for many years a resident of St. Paul, died at his home, 687 Portland avenue, yesterday. Mr. Forest was 87 years old. He settled in Winona in 1855, going there from Brooklyn, N. Y. He formed the partnership of Fox & Forest, which continued until about twenty years ago, when he moved to St. Paul and engaged in the manufacture of clothing in the firm of S. A. Forest & Sons. Later he was with Lindeke, Warner & Shurmeier. He retired from business about three years ago. A widow and seven children survive. The children are: Mortimer and Eugene Forest, St. Paul; Samuel E. Forest, of Britton, S. D. ; F. S. Forest, division superintendent of the Great Northern at Kalispell, Mont.; Mrs. J. W. Murray, of Kansas City; Mrs. Henry S. Gibson, of New York, and Miss Katherine Forest, who is now traveling in Europe. Mr. Forest had been declining in health during the past year. The funeral will be held from the family residence at 2 p.m. Saturday. The interment will be private. The body will be removed to Greenwood cemetery, Brooklyn, in the spring.
