B. Abbett, Former Redwoods Falls Citizen, Passed Away at His Home In Above Place Friday. Last Friday occurred the death of M.. B. Abbett at his home in Lamberton, and the funeral was held Sunday at that place and the remains were interred in the city cemetery there. The deceased had been quite feeble the past year. M. B. Abett was born in Bartholomew County, Indiana, in 1844, and lived there until seventeen years of age, then enlisted in Company G, 33rd Indiana Infantry, and served until mustered out in 1865. In the fall of the same year he came to Minnesota., and until 1869 and lived in Dakota County. He removed to Lamberton when and was among the earliest settlers. He took up a homestead just east of that village where he resided for many years. He was the first town treasurer of Lamber township, and was elected chairman of the Board of Supervisors for four years. In 1881 he was elected chairman of Redwood County and held the office six or eight years, which time he and his family were residents of Redwood Falls. Deceased was united in marriage to Ms. Hulda Hawkins, at Farmington, this state, in the year 1868, and to them were born three children, Mrs. Frank Skelton, of Lamberton, and W. A. and Arthur Abbett who are in business at Duluth.
