He had been in poor health for some years. A funeral mass was held at St. Catherine's Church in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, on October 3, 1955, at 9 a.m. Interment was in Redwood Falls Catholic Cemetery. Michael was born February 21, 1886, at Adams, Minnesota, the fifth child and fourth son of Michael and Gertrude (Bernard) Kramer. He attended school in Sheridan Township and worked for the Railway Postal Service from 1905 to 1908 on the route from St. Charles, Minnesota, to Brookings, South Dakota. During his professional baseball career from 1908 to 1915, Michael played for Duluth in the Northern League, Indianapolis in the American Association, and the Southern Association at Nashville, Tennessee. He was also called up by the Minneapolis Millers. Michael was a pitcher and described as "Mankato's $10,000 Beauty." Michael was a state representative at-large from Brown and Redwood counties from 1921 to the early 1930s. He was a founding member of the Farmer-Labor party and chaired the Independent Progressive Voters of Redwood County, part of a statewide group of Hjalmar Peterson supporters that endorsed Harold E. Stassen for Governor of Minnesota. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of Foresters. Michael married Julia Pistalka on June 2, 1915, and they lived on a farm near Seaforth until 1935, when they moved to a farm near North Redwood. In 1947, after Michael retired, they moved to Delhi.
