Magdalena (Mac) Zitzmann, a daughter of Joseph F. and Rose Zitzmann, was born on January 5, 1916 at Lucan, Minnesota. She attended first through eighth grades at District 108 in Lucan, graduated salutatorian from Milroy High School in 1933 and attended Minneapolis Business College. Mac entered military service on October 9, 1942, and attended naval training school at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Mac was the first woman from Lucan to join the WAVES. She was sent to Europe on November 7, 1946, and married Joseph Liamarri of Yonkers, New York in December, 1947, in Germany. They returned to the U.S. in the early 1950s. Mac was survived by her husband; her mother, Rose Zitzmann of Morton; brothers Frank of Morton, George of St. Paul, Mike of Detroit, Michigan, Leonard of Belview, Sylvester of Vesta and Gilbert of San Bernardino, California; and sisters Rose Lee of Maywood, California, Ann Marks of Venice, California, and Phyllis Boyum of Fairfax. ____________________ Compiler's notes: (1) There are alternate spellings for Mac's first name (Magdalen, Magdalan and Magdalene) and married name (Liammar, Lammari, Lamarri and Lammarie).
