Funeral services were held at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan, Minnesota, on Tuesday, October 21, 1975 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Cletus Altermatt officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery, and Sunset Funeral Home of Echo was in charge of arrangements. Rose Ourada was born August 10, 1885, at New Prague, Minnesota, a daughter of John and Anna Hlota Ourada. She married Joseph Zitzmann on October 23, 1902, in Sleepy Eye. They also lived in New Ulm before moving to Redwood County. Joseph and Rose had 12 children: Joseph (who died at age 7), Frank, Rose, George, John, Michael, Leonard, Magdalena (Mac), Philomena (Phyllis), Sylvester, Ann and Gilbert. During World War II four of the children, Frank, Mac, Sylvester and Gilbert, were in military service at the same time. Rose hung a banner with a star in a window, which she lit every night for their safe return. Rose rang the bell at Our Lady of Victory Church at 7:00 a.m., noon and 6 p.m. for Angelus prayers. Mr. Zitzmann died in 1944, and Rose moved to Morton in 1956. ____________________ Compiler's note: Rose also rang the church bell in Morton.
