FileFormatted by Terri--MNArchives Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by: Barbara Pierce Submitted: June 1999 ========================================================================= 1865 - A few settlers were in the township as early as 1865. 1871 (January 4) - Bandon Township was set off from Camp Township. 1871 - First township officers were elected. Treasurer, John Reagan; chairman, Timothy Carline, chairman; supervisor, James Hurley, and Jacob Anderson Volen; assessor and Justice of Peace, Jeremiah Farrell; clerk, Gunerus Peterson (did not qualify until the third year); and Iver Brandjord was also an early officer. 1873 - Legislature enacted a law that every side of every section must have a road. 1886 - A town hall was erected on Section 16 SE ¼. 1902 - Slush scrapers and a reversible road grader were purchased. 1904 - Wheel scrapers came into use. During later years, several horse drawn graders were bought. 1905 - First application of gravel on township roads. 1905 - Supervisors were elected on a rotation basis of 3 year terms, treasurer, clerk and assessor for 2 years. Before 1905, all township officers were elected yearly. 1927 - Township adopted the Australian ballot. 1933 - Bandon Store opened for business by Walter & Mary (Savela) Williams 1941 - A motor grader was purchased. 1947 - At the annual meeting, voters resolved to sell all graders and scrapers at auction. 1948 (January 27) - The Bandon Busy Beavers 4-H Club was organized. 1953 - A new site for the town hall was purchased after schools consolidated. 1953 - Section 28, the district #124 School and grounds became the township meeting place. 1959 - "Kitchen Klatter Band" organized.
