Michael. 1865 - Ira Sheppard filed a claim on Section 33. Their son, Ben, was the first known boy that was born in Boon Lake. 1869 (September 7) - The territory was split from Cairo and became Boon Lake Township. 1869 - The first real estate assessment. 1870 - First school was held in a one room private home. The teacher was Belle Jewel. 1871 - Public School District #25 was organized. Due to bad weather the school was only held for 4 months in the summer. 1871 - The first post office was established in Section 33. I. S. Sheppard was the first postmaster. 1874 - Boundaries were formed (same as present boundaries) 1874 (March 10) - The first township recorded meeting was held at the house of Mr. George A. Gifford for the purpose of electing town officers and to prevent cattle from running at large. 1874 (March 23) - Supervisors meeting was held at the house of town clerk A. Shultze. 1880 (mid 1880's) - Boon Lake Ladies Aid Society 1887 (April 18) - Boon Lake Cemetery Association was organized, later the name changed to Lakeside Creamery Assn. 1897 - Boon Lake Creamery was organized. 1902 - The post office was discontinued. Thomas Bradford was postmaster. 1905 (July 21) - The last Rural School District in Renville County, District 38, Boon Lake Township was started. Fanny M. Scott was the first teacher in 1905. 1920 (October 2) - A resolution was passed to build a new schoolhouse. 1922 (September 23) - It was voted to sell the old school house and coal shed to be moved off the grounds. 1924 - The new schoolhouse was built. 1930 - Boon County Lake Creamery changed its name Lakeside Creamery Assn. 1958 - The State of Minnesota renumbered all school districts. District 38 became 1769. 1959 (June 1) - For the high school students of the district, it was voted to change high schools from Hutchinson to Buffalo Lake. 1968 - School District 1769 was voted to be dissolved. Part joined the Hutchinson district and part the Buffalo Lake district.
