Officers elected were Supervisors, Wm. Emmick Chr., August Rieke and J. Phelps clerk, assessor, M. Haines, Treasurer George Rieke, Justices, R. Barton and Joe Labarron, constables, S. Turner and H. Dodge. 1868 - First real estate assessment. 1869 (July 8) - The township name was changed from Mud Lake to Cairo 1881 - Cyclone did considerable damage. There was loss of lives and a large amount of property was damaged. Many of the cattle were killed or injured. 1946 (March 25) - The Cairo Sharpshooters 4-H Club was organized.
