H. L. Jewett and G. G. Howe. 1867-1874 - Ericson Township was part of Hawk Creek during these years, except for 4 months when it was part of Flora. 1873 - The first death in the township, Emma H. Walstad. 1873 (May 24) - First land claim in Section 32 was filed by Peter Hanson. 1874 - First real estate assessment and the first property assessment. 1874 - The first school was held at the home of Iver Walstad, taught by Mary Bovee. 1874 (January 6) - The petition was granted for the establishment of Ericson Township. 1874 (January 27) - The first township election was held. The officers elected: Supervisors: Henry Paulson, Chairman and Constable; Peter Gerde; E. H. Walstad; and Peter P. Dustrud, Treasurer, Assessor and Constable. 1875 - Township's first marriage: Lars H. Milsten to Ingebor Hanson.
