H. Petit in Kingman Township, Section 25. 1867 (April 2) - Kingman Township was a part of Birch Coulee Township since April 2, 1867. 1870 - First real estate assessment was made. 1874 (July 29) - Kingman Township was a part of Norfolk since July 29, 1874. 1876 (July 27) - Kingman Township was part of Bird Island Township since July 27, 1876. 1878 (July 12) - W. M. Coons was the first child born in the township to David and Anna Coons. 1878 (September 3) - A petition was presented to the County Commissioners requesting that Kingman Township be organized. The petition was granted. 1878 (September 20) - The township officers were elected: Supervisors, A. P. Altman; Chairman, E. Fouch, and D. Coons. The Clerk was S. T. Salter, H. W. Jones Treasurer, and L. W. Stearns, Assessor. 1878-1879 (winter) - Clara Stearns taught the first school in the L. W. Stearns house. 1879 - First personal property assessment was made. 1880 - By this year, 11,000 acres of land was assessed with an average of $3 per acre. 1881 (May 10) - At the age of 96 years, 11 months, and 24 days, J. H. Sangmyhr was the first death in the township. 1915 (about) - County Commissioners decided to proceed with a wide drainage system of open ditches and underground tile lines. 1950 (February 24) - The Kingman Local of the Minnesota Farmers Union was organized. 1953 - Kingman Township Board bought the District 68 school building and it was used for the Kingman Town Hall.
