F. Lucas, Sr. Elected officers: Supervisors W. T. Boser (Chairman), J. K. Salisbury and B. Potter; Clerk - S. M. Freeman; Treasurer - J. F. Lucas, Sr.; Justices - H. V. Poore and Luther Daily; Constables - John \ Nillis and C. M. Stevens. 1880 - The first annual township meeting was held. 1880 (March 9) - Hamlin V. Poore as moderator, duties were designated: Poundmaster - J. F. Lucas, Jr.; Supervisors - W. T. Bower, Wm. Fulton and C. M. Stevens; Clerk - S. M. Freeman; Treasurer - J. F. Lucas, Sr.; Assessor - H. J. Stevens; Justices - H. V. Poore and J. A. Thom; Constables - J. F. Lucas, Jr. and M. Farrel. 1912 (February 17) - The Articles of Incorporation was drawn up for the Osceola Telephone Company. 1950 - The telephone service changed from the old phones on the wall. The telephone company installed a reconditioned desk model on which you could just lift the receiver and give the number to the central and she'd put the call through. A few years later a switch was made to dial phones at which time the telephone office in Bird Island closed and the calls then went through the office of Northwestern Bell in Olivia. 1954 - The Brookola Extension Club was started. 1968 - The Osceola Telephone Company was dissolved and NW Bell took over. 1979 (January 1) - The Emmanuel Church in Olivia was closed.
